Cow painting – Spike

Spike was my first ever cow painting. Spike is a cow that I came across in Norfolk on holiday – I bonded with him (probably really a her) over a fence on the way down to the beach. After a few dribbles and snorts (that was the cow, not me) I took a photo and many years later when looking for something to paint, I remembered my lovely chat with dear old Spike and dug out the photo. Sure enough he was as gorgeous as I remembered and I had great fun painting him. I finished the cow painting on the day that Spike Milligan died (Feb 2002) and in tribute named my cow after him (her – I think Spike would have been pleased to cause cow gender confusion). Spike was the start and hundreds of cow paintings have followed since.

Spike can be printed on paper or canvas. The prints are printed using the giclee method – a high quality way of printing which is resistant to fading. The canvas prints are stretched over stretcher bars and then laminated with a protective coating.

Unless I have them in stock, canvas prints take about 2 weeks to be ready as they are printed to order by my lovely printer, Jake,up the road near Wells in Somerset.

The canvas size is 81cm x 56cm.
